GOLD AND DUSTY BLUE WEDDING

The dreamy design of this wedding was inspired by the Bride. Rebecca is a gentle spirit, with a requisite of personality; she wanted something different than a Traditional Chinese wedding in reds while maintaining a feeling of sophistication and classic tone, all the while. Rebecca’s personality quirk is reading comics and the Reception Table housed her favorite anime character, One Piece, who was perhaps a little underdressed for the occasion.

The Bride wished for a Clean, Dusty Blue theme for the Wedding, which we loved. To complete Rebecca’s 10 piece bouquet, because ten in Chinese is the ‘perfect number’, we suggested the Classic David Austin Garden Rose in Peach to complement the coolness of the Locally Grown, White and Blue Hydrangeas with an element of warmth and to bring in the elegant, and clean fragrance of the rose; a dusty-green Silver Dollar was chosen as the pop of green in the bouquet, cutely, in unison to the Bride’s nickname, Yaun, meaning ’round’ in Chinese, and her Princess-like gown in a light peach hue with a round petticoat. The Groom’s corsage was an elegant design of a Peach Garden Rose and Lambs Ear.

The main piece for the Bride is often her bouquet, though Rebecca’s wish was to have a flower-decorated Golden Frame which was the Centre Piece of the Fireplace Altar. There were two ways to go about the Golden Frame design from the florist perspective: to have the flowers wrapping around the inner edges of the frame asymmetrically, or to fill the entire empty space within the frame. The Bride decided that she wanted the have frame filled with flowers to maintain symmetry and balance. To the Bride’s wish the frame was filled with White and Blue Hydrangeas, Peach Garden Roses spread throughout popping up to contrast the Pale Gold Frame. It was partially terrifying that the entire thing might fall apart at any given moment, if not handled gently, but luckily all was in place and at peace. Candles cascaded in warm glimmer on top of the mantle, and to each side of the fireplace – tall glass vases held full round bouquets. The hydrangeas took extra effort to keep fresh and required lots of watering, we misted the flowers continuously to maintain their fresh look throughout the ceremony. It was so worth it!

The Ceremony took place in the University Room of the Vancouver Club in Downtown Vancouver, which hosts numerous fine weddings and events. Life Studio Photography did an incredible job of capturing the wedding in a complementary classic, clean fashion. Candles and Hydrangea flower petals, trailing along, adorned the sides of the aisle, candles created a beautiful shadow cascade with the petals as the Bride walked to the Alter.

After the Ceremony, the Reception in the Ballroom of the Vancouver Club invited guests to relax at their tables. We stayed with the same color theme for the Table Centre Bouquets in gold vases, adding a few more Peach Garden Roses to bring in more warm light to the table. The dusty blue tablecloths created a beautiful background for the golden-framed plates, which we complimented with the ever-delicate Consolida Flowers and White Orchids.

We created a low-design for the Head Table, which was D-Shaped; avoiding vases allowed for a clear space for people to see one another and enjoy the company. White and Blue Hydrangeas, overlapped Dusty-Green Dollar Leaves in a zig-zag formation, creating a long trail downside the table.
